Ladakh Schools and Shops Reopen as Region Recovers from Recent Violence

Educational institutions up to Class 8 and local businesses in Leh, Ladakh are set to reopen following a gradual return to normalcy after violent clashes that resulted in four fatalities on September 24. Following the gradual return to normalcy after deadly violence on September 24 that claimed four lives in Leh, local authorities have announced that all educational institutions up to Class 8 will resume operations from Friday.

The administration emphasized that prohibitory orders banning gatherings of five or more individuals remain in effect, according to an official directive.

"All shops and schools up to Class 8 within Leh district shall remain open, and small buses (public transport) shall be permitted to operate between 10 am and 6 pm on October 3, subject to strict adherence to the restrictions laid down under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita," stated the order.

Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Shabbir Hussain issued this directive under the district magistrate's instructions.

The district's recovery process began when authorities initiated a seven-hour curfew relaxation on September 30, gradually extending the duration on Wednesday and Thursday.
