RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized that India's rich diversity in languages, faiths, lifestyles, and traditions should be recognized as a source of national strength.
During his address at the annual Vijayadashmi celebration in Nagpur, Bhagwat reflected on the RSS's century-long journey, noting that despite numerous opportunities to pursue political power, the organization has remained steadfast in its primary mission of 'vyakti nirman' or character building.
The gathering marked the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, where Bhagwat shared valuable insights drawn from the organization's extensive history spanning one hundred years.
He advocated for methodical, incremental reforms in global systems to prevent societal collapse, suggesting that India should develop and present to the world a holistic development model based on integrated perspectives.
The RSS chief highlighted the importance of dharma as a guiding principle for humanity, clarifying that it transcends mere religious practices, customs, or traditions, serving instead as a universal connecting force.
According to Bhagwat, meaningful social transformation can be achieved through exemplary individuals demonstrating integrity, selflessness, and social leadership. This foundational belief drove the establishment of RSS and continues to fuel its 'shakhas' (branches), which nurture character development and unity despite numerous challenges.
Throughout its century-long existence, the RSS has consistently declined enticements and invitations to enter the political arena, focusing exclusively on operating 'shakhas' for character development.
The collective experience of swayamsevaks confirms that fostering personal transformation through 'vyakti nirman' remains the most effective approach to creating positive global change, Bhagwat asserted.
He emphasized that India's multifaceted diversity must be embraced as a strength, and all communities—including those who have adopted non-indigenous religions—are integral parts of the broader Indian identity. Bhagwat called for harmony, mutual respect, and the rejection of violence.
Strongly condemning hooliganism and attempts to create communal divisions, the RSS chief urged law enforcement to act impartially while also encouraging good citizens, particularly the younger generation, to remain vigilant and organized, intervening when necessary to maintain social harmony.
