Delhi is witnessing a remarkable transformation of the traditional Ramlila this year. In the IP extension area, an innovative production called "Pink Ramlila" is challenging centuries-old conventions by having women portray all characters, including the traditionally male roles of Lord Ram, Lord Lakshmana, and Ravana.

This groundbreaking celebration represents a significant shift from conventional Ramlila productions. Despite challenging weather conditions including rain and flooding, the women performers have maintained their dedication, resulting in a show that has garnered enthusiastic appreciation from audiences.

The Pink Ramlila ensemble hails from Moradabad and includes women from diverse professional backgrounds - boutique owners, MBA students, postgraduates, and nursing trainees. These performers underwent two months of intensive training to authentically bring the epic narrative to life. What makes this production particularly noteworthy is that women manage every aspect, from organization to performance.

The performance venue has been creatively enhanced with family-friendly features, including children's swings, a replica of Goddess Vaishno Devi's cave temple, and the popular "Operation Sindoor" selfie spot that attracts many visitors. The "Pink Ramlila" has quickly become a cultural phenomenon in Delhi, drawing audiences of all ages.

This innovative production is part of Delhi's vibrant Dussehra cultural landscape, which includes numerous Ramlila performances throughout the city. Other prominent venues include the Lal Qila Maidan, home to the renowned Luv Kush Ramlila, and the Ramlila Maidan, where the Shri Ram Lila Committee organizes traditional performances of the Ramayana.

Another notable production is the Sampoorna Ramayan Ramlila at Bharat Mandapam within the India Gate lawns, offering a magnificent theatrical and musical interpretation of the epic.

This year, Dussehra celebrations are scheduled for Thursday, October 2.
