Singer Zubeen Garg passed away after drowning in the sea in Singapore on September 19.
Guwahati:
North East India Festival (NEIF) chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta and Zubeen Garg's manager Siddhartha Sharma have been taken into custody in relation to the singer's tragic death in Singapore, according to police statements on Wednesday.
Authorities arrested Mahanta as he arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi from Singapore, while Sharma was apprehended at an apartment in Gurugram.
Both individuals were transported to Guwahati early Wednesday morning, as confirmed by a senior police official to PTI.
Following the singer's drowning death on September 19 in Singapore, the Assam government established a 10-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Special DGP M P Gupta to investigate the circumstances.
The SIT has issued notices to several individuals, including Mahanta, Sharma, members of the Singapore Assam Association, and others who had traveled to Singapore for the festival, requesting them to appear before the team to provide their statements.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had previously announced that an Interpol 'lookout notice' had been issued against both Mahanta and Sharma, requiring them to appear before the CID by October 6.
