Autorickshaw Driver from UP Arrested for Rape and Murder of Mumbai Sex Worker

Officials reported on Tuesday that a 34-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, days after allegedly raping and murdering a sex worker in Mumbai.

The incident took place on September 25 in Mumbai's Malad area, with the accused identified as Chandrapal Ramkhiladi, also known as Neta, authorities stated.

"Last week, police received a call about an unconscious woman at Sawant Compound on Church Road. A police team immediately rushed to the location and transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead," explained an official from Malwani police station.

The official added that her autopsy revealed she had been strangled to death, which led police to register a murder case.

After examining CCTV footage, police identified the accused as an auto driver and the victim as a commercial sex worker.

The video footage showed the auto driver killing the victim using her 'dupatta' (long veil). According to the official, the crime resulted from a financial dispute between them.

Upon discovering the suspect was from Agra and hiding in Mathura, investigators were dispatched to apprehend him. Following his arrest, he confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The official stated that the accused appeared before the court in Mathura and is being transferred to Mumbai on a transit remand.
