Bengaluru:

On Monday, Karnataka Police filed an FIR against a motorcyclist for posting derogatory comments on social media targeting a female Traffic Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) within Bengaluru's Rajajinagar police station jurisdiction. The case was registered after PSI Parvathi filed a complaint against the rider identified as Selvakumar.

Police reports indicate that PSI Parvathi was stationed at R R Circle in the Rajajinagar area, collecting fines from traffic rule violators. Selvakumar was intercepted while operating his two-wheeler without wearing a helmet and simultaneously talking on his mobile phone. When stopped, he reportedly engaged in an argument with the traffic officers and refused to pay the imposed fine.

Subsequently, Selvakumar recorded the encounter and later uploaded the footage to social media platforms. In his post, he allegedly used inappropriate language and made vulgar remarks directed at PSI Parvathi. This prompted the officer to file a formal complaint at Rajajinagar Police Station.

The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, with additional details expected to follow.

In a separate recent incident, a Sub-Inspector and his team faced assault during a surprise bar inspection on September 21. SI Ravish M., accompanied by staff members including Siddappa Gowda, was conducting an unexpected check at a bar-cum-restaurant to identify potential illegal activities or violations.

The intoxicated suspects became agitated when questioned by the officers, seized their mobile devices, and physically assaulted them. They were subsequently charged under Sections 132, 121, and 352 of the BNS Act.

In another case from December 29, 2024, Karnataka Police arrested a man named Sagar for assaulting police personnel at Pandavapura police station in Mandya district. The accused is the son of a former Pandavapura Town Panchayat president.

A viral video shows Sagar initially being slapped by police during an altercation, followed by footage of him attacking the officer. Authorities later apprehended the suspect.
