BJP Slams Congress's Silence After India's Asia Cup Victory Against Pakistan

The BJP has launched criticism against Congress for not congratulating Team India on their Asia Cup 2025 victory over Pakistan. BJP spokespersons accused Rahul Gandhi of having close ties with Pakistani officials and questioned Congress's patriotism. The controversy escalated after Indian players refused to accept the trophy from Pakistani minister Mohsin Naqvi, while opposition parties called the gesture politically motivated.

In Comatose State: BJP Jabs Congress Over 'Silence' On India's Asia Cup Win

Team India clinched an exciting five-wicket victory against Pakistan to claim the Asia Cup 2025 trophy.

New Delhi:

The BJP launched a scathing attack on Congress on Monday for failing to congratulate Team India on their Asia Cup victory. BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari labeled Rahul Gandhi as the "best friend" of Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir and accused Congress of acting against India's national interests.

"On one hand: Rahul Gandhi has not yet congratulated the Indian cricket team on thrashing Pakistan on sports battlefield! On the other hand: When Pakistan is completely cornered, you have Congress leaders asking for sportsman spirit against Pakistan! Why does Congress always support Pakistan over India!" Bhandari posted on X.

The BJP spokesperson further branded Congress as the "B-team of Pakistan."

"In Operation Sindoor, Congress stood with Pakistan. In Operation Tilak, Congress stands with Pakistan. Rahul Gandhi is the best friend of Asim Munir!" he added.

BJP's IT department head Amit Malviya suggested that Team India's victory against Pakistan had left Rahul Gandhi and his party in a "comatose state."

"Just like after Operation Sindoor, when they couldn't bring themselves to congratulate the Indian Army for its stupendous strikes, they now appear to be waiting for permission from Mohsin Naqvi and their other handlers in Pakistan before joining the nation in celebrating the Indian cricket team's success. Put that aside - not even a single social media post from Congress congratulating our national team for thrashing Pakistan thrice in the tournament and bringing the Asia Cup home," Malviya stated.

According to Malviya, Congress, Rahul Gandhi, and Pakistan have "found themselves on the same side of the divide."

Team India secured a thrilling five-wicket victory over Pakistan to win the Asia Cup 2025 yesterday, marking their ninth title in the Continental tournament. Pakistan collapsed to 146 all out in 19.1 overs, losing their final nine wickets for merely 33 runs.

The final match at Dubai International Stadium occurred amid tensions due to Pakistani players' provocative gestures and Team India's refusal to shake hands with them following the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and prompted India to launch Operation Sindoor.

During an earlier Super Fours match, Pakistan's Haris Rauf made a 'plane down' gesture toward Indian fans, referencing his country's unfounded claims about downing Indian jets during Operation Sindoor. In response, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah replicated the gesture after dismissing Rauf, a moment that went viral online.

Following India's victory, the presentation ceremony was disrupted when Team India refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Asian Cricket Council chief and Pakistani minister Mohsin Naqvi. Shortly afterward, Naqvi exited the stadium with the trophy and medals.

Opposition parties criticized Team India's actions, with Congress leader Udit Raj claiming, "A drama has been staged. When you have already played, what is the problem in taking the trophy? They are fooling us, this is all drama. This is a joke."

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj shared a video on X showing Indian players shaking hands with Naqvi "15 days ago." He commented, "They got a photo clicked too. But when there was opposition to the match in India, they gave the players a new script so that they could run propaganda in the country."
