PM Modi Compares India's Asia Cup Victory to Operation Sindoor: Triumph Over Pakistan in Both Military and Cricket

Prime Minister Narendra Modi drew a strategic parallel between India's ninth Asia Cup cricket victory over Pakistan and the successful military Operation Sindoor, highlighting India's dominance in both arenas. Led by Tilak Varma's impressive half-century and Suryakumar Yadav's captaincy, Team India secured a five-wicket win in Dubai, continuing their remarkable T20I performance record of 18 wins against just 2 losses since Yadav took command.

Cricket or military, India won against Pakistan - this was PM Modi's message

New Delhi:

India's ninth Asia Cup title, secured through a five-wicket victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in a thrilling final on Sunday, prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to celebrate with a strategic reference to Operation Sindoor.

"Operation Sindoor on the games field. The outcome is the same - India wins! Congrats to our cricketers," PM Modi posted on X.

By mentioning Operation Sindoor alongside Pakistan's defeat in the Asia Cup final, PM Modi highlighted a significant parallel - whether in sports or military operations, India emerged victorious against Pakistan.

India's powerful airstrikes targeting Pakistan's terror facilities and military bases in May had effectively neutralized their airspace defenses within a remarkably short timeframe. The intensity of these strikes ultimately forced a high-ranking Pakistani military official to contact India requesting a ceasefire.

The cricket heroes of this metaphorical Operation Sindoor were Tilak Varma and his crucial partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube. Varma's well-executed half-century, achieved through effective collaboration with Samson and Dube, propelled Team India to their second T20I Asia Cup championship and their ninth title overall, including the ODI editions.

India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in this tense encounter in Dubai.

With this victory, Suryakumar Yadav's Team India continues their impressive performance in T20Is, having won 18 matches, lost just two, and tied two since he assumed the captaincy.
