Kochi: A tragic incident occurred on Sunday when a 12-year-old boy lost his life after being crushed by a falling coconut tree while attempting to catch a parrot near his residence, according to local police reports.
The victim has been identified as Muhammad Sinan, the son of Sudheer and Sabiya, who are residents of Aluva.
Police officials stated that the unfortunate event took place during the afternoon hours when Sinan was playing with four other children in the vicinity of their homes.
The group of children spotted a parrot resting on a dried coconut tree. In their excitement to capture the bird, they made efforts to topple the tree, which subsequently collapsed and fell directly onto Sinan, inflicting severe injuries.
Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, Sinan succumbed to his injuries, police confirmed.
Authorities have transported the body to Kalamassery Medical College, where it will undergo post-mortem examination before being released to family members.
The deceased child was enrolled as a seventh-standard student at Thottakkatukara Holy Ghost Convent School at the time of this tragic accident.
