Trainee Pilot Escapes Unharmed as Aircraft Skids Off Runway at Gujarat's Amreli Airport

On Sunday afternoon, a single-seater trainer aircraft veered off the runway while landing at Amreli airport in Gujarat. Fortunately, the trainee pilot escaped the incident without any injuries, according to officials.

Amreli Collector Vikalp Bhardwaj confirmed that the small aircraft was owned by a private aviation academy operating from the local airport.

"The trainer aircraft deviated from the runway immediately after landing at the airport. Due to unknown circumstances, it continued into the unpaved area alongside the runway. While the aircraft suffered some damage, the trainee pilot remained unharmed. Civil aviation authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation into this incident," Bhardwaj stated.

A nearby resident captured video footage showing the aircraft in a tilted position on the ground some distance away from the runway.

It's worth noting that in April of this year, a fatal accident occurred when another trainer aircraft crashed in a residential area near Amreli town shortly after taking off from the same airport, resulting in the death of a trainee pilot.
