Son Murders Mother in UP After Being Denied Money for Alcohol: Police Investigation Underway

In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur, authorities have apprehended a man for allegedly beating his 55-year-old mother to death after she refused to provide him money to purchase alcohol, police officials reported on Sunday.

The violent confrontation took place late Saturday night in Nirbhaypuram Colony, within the jurisdiction of the Nagar Kotwali police station.

According to Circle Officer (CO) Munish Chand, the suspect Akshay had asked his mother Asha Devi for money to buy alcohol. When she informed him she had no money available, he demanded that she sell her jewellery to fund his liquor purchase.

"The verbal dispute between mother and son escalated dramatically, resulting in Akshay physically assaulting his mother and repeatedly slamming her head against the wall," Chand explained to PTI.

Asha Devi suffered critical injuries from the attack and collapsed at the scene, the officer added.

Authorities arrested the accused at the location of the crime and transported the severely injured woman to the district hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival.

Police investigations revealed that Akshay had returned to Saharanpur merely 15 days prior after getting married in Bihar. He was reportedly in a depressive state following his wife's departure to her parents' home just two days before the incident.

Police officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is currently underway.
