The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has initiated a comprehensive statewide campaign across Goa, pledging to liberate the coastal state from what they describe as the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) "Gundaraj" - a regime characterized by intimidation, criminal activity, and disorder.

The initiative, titled "Goa Doesn't Want BJP's Gundaraj," directly confronts the governing party while establishing AAP as the unified voice of Goan citizens demanding safety, judicial fairness, and governmental responsibility.

According to AAP representatives, Goa, previously known for its tranquility and social cohesion, has experienced consistent deterioration under BJP leadership. Official statistics from Goa Police substantiate this assertion, showing a 38 percent increase in serious criminal offenses over six years. While approximately 2,900 cases were documented in 2017, this figure exceeded 4,050 by 2024. Crimes targeting women specifically have increased by over 40 percent, with the most recent year recording in excess of 120 murders or attempted murders, 350 assaults against women, and more than 800 incidents involving theft and robbery.

AAP has further alleged that the government has facilitated extensive land transfers. Official documentation reveals that more than 3,200 acres of public and community property have been transferred to private enterprises and developers in recent years, frequently without obtaining consent from local populations. The party contends that this practice is undermining Goa's land rights and cultural heritage.

The organization reports that over 250 attacks on social and political activists were documented within the past two years, with escalating incidents targeting community advocates. These statistics, according to AAP, indicate deteriorating law enforcement effectiveness and an atmosphere of intimidation throughout the state.

Infrastructure conditions represent another critical focus of the campaign. Nearly 72 percent of Goan roadways reportedly require urgent maintenance. Recurrent flooding during monsoon seasons highlights inadequate planning and insufficient upkeep. AAP's previous campaign regarding road conditions had garnered more than 50,000 citizen signatures demanding governmental intervention.

The campaign portrays the forthcoming election as a decisive moment for Goa's future.

On one side stands the BJP, accused of facilitating criminal activity, land appropriation, and authoritarian governance. In contrast, AAP presents itself as an alternative committed to peace, legal integrity, transparency, and citizen-centered administration.

The next Goa Legislative Assembly election is scheduled to occur by February 2027. This electoral process will determine the composition of the 9th Goa Legislative Assembly, with all 40 legislative seats contested.
