Customs officials have seized a third luxury vehicle linked to Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan as part of their ongoing investigation into the smuggling of high-end cars from Bhutan.
The red Nissan Patrol SUV was confiscated from an apartment complex in Vennala where one of Dulquer's relatives resides, according to Customs sources.
This latest seizure brings the total number of vehicles confiscated in the case to 40, with three of them being connected to the popular actor.
Investigators revealed that the SUV had been smuggled from Bhutan to Himachal Pradesh, where it was re-registered before eventually being sold to Dulquer Salmaan.
Customs authorities stated they are gathering details about four cars owned by the actor, though they noted that all vehicles were purchased from previous owners within India.
This development comes just one day after Dulquer filed a petition with the Kerala High Court seeking the release of another seized vehicle - a 2004 Land Rover Defender. In his petition, the actor claimed that the SUV had originally been imported by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for its regional delegation in New Delhi.
The investigation into the luxury car smuggling operation continues as authorities work to trace the origin and documentation of all confiscated vehicles.
