Tragedy at TVK Rally: 38 Dead in Stampede at Actor-Politician Vijay's Campaign Event in Karur

Health Minister Ma Subramanian has promptly rushed to Karur following the tragic incident at actor-politician Vijay's rally.

A devastating stampede has resulted in the deaths of at least 38 individuals, including eight children, while more than 40 others sustained injuries during the political gathering.

The incident unfolded when Vijay, president of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), experienced a significant delay of approximately six hours, arriving at the venue much later than the scheduled noon appearance on Saturday.

During this extended waiting period, the crowd had swelled considerably, with an estimated 30,000 supporters gathered at the location. Many attendees began fainting due to the intense overcrowding and heat conditions.

Upon noticing the distress among his supporters, Vijay interrupted his speech and attempted to provide relief by distributing water bottles from his custom-built campaign bus.

According to official reports, the stampede was triggered when a section of supporters and fans fell while attempting to move closer to the actor's campaign vehicle.

Emergency response was severely hampered as ambulances struggled to navigate through the dense crowd to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
