New Delhi:

A tragic accident occurred on Gurugram's National Highway Saturday morning when a speeding Thar lost control and crashed into a divider, resulting in five fatalities and one severe injury. The incident happened around 4:30 am near exit number 9 on the highway.

Officials reported that the six individuals—three men and three women—had traveled to Gurugram from Uttar Pradesh for business purposes.

The high-speed SUV's driver lost control before crashing into the divider. Four occupants died instantly at the scene, while the remaining two were transported to a nearby hospital where one subsequently succumbed to injuries. The lone survivor remains in critical condition receiving medical treatment.

The collision was so violent that it reduced the Thar vehicle to a completely wrecked state.

This accident represents yet another incident involving the Mahindra Thar, a vehicle frequently featured in social media reels and short videos. Recently, the SUV has attracted attention for its involvement in rash driving incidents and accidents. Last month in Delhi's Moti Nagar area, a speeding Thar struck and killed a motorcyclist. Footage showed the motorcycle crushed between the Thar and a truck, with visible cracks on the car's windshield. The driver, Amarinder Singh Sodhi, abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene, with police later discovering two alcohol bottles inside the car.

In a separate incident, a pedestrian died after being hit by a speeding Thar in New Delhi's Chanakyapuri, a high-security diplomatic zone. Officials noted that although the accident occurred approximately two kilometers from Rashtrapati Bhavan, the victim's body remained on the road for four hours. Authorities later apprehended the driver, who admitted to falling asleep and losing control of the vehicle.

Earlier this month, a woman accidentally drove a newly purchased Mahindra Thar through a glass wall at a Delhi showroom in Preet Vihar immediately after buying it. According to officials, the SUV was parked on the showroom's first floor awaiting delivery to its owner. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
