Police Officers Arrested for Sexual Assault of Woman Seeking Help in Andhra Pradesh

Two law enforcement officers in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district have been arrested for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a 28-year-old woman who had approached them for assistance. The victim reports that her complaints were ignored by multiple police stations until she made a public appeal for justice. Authorities have now registered a case and launched an investigation into the serious allegations against the constable and home guard.

The victim has also reported that the home guard subjected her to continuous harassment through telephone calls.

In a disturbing incident from Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district, authorities have arrested a police constable and a home guard on Thursday after they allegedly sexually assaulted a woman who had sought police assistance.

According to the 28-year-old victim, Constable Umashankar from Punganur police station in Chittoor and Home Guard Kiran Kumar administered a beverage containing sedatives to her before subjecting her to multiple sexual assaults. The perpetrators reportedly threatened to harm her three children if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

The victim further stated that the home guard persistently harassed her with unwanted phone calls.

She claimed that despite her attempts to file a complaint at various police stations, no action was initiated for approximately two weeks. She added that authorities only registered a case after she made a public plea for justice.

"After her public appeal for justice before the media, Bangarupalyam police registered a case under applicable sections," stated Deputy Superintendent of Police of Palamaner, Degala Prabhakar.

Law enforcement officials have commenced an investigation into the allegations.
