A 47-year-old man was arrested in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district for allegedly spying for Pakistan's ISI. Hanif Khan is accused of transmitting sensitive military information through social media in exchange for money. This marks the fourth espionage arrest in the border region this year, raising concerns about security vulnerabilities along India's western frontier.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district on espionage charges for allegedly working with Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, according to senior police officials.

Hanif Khan, a resident of Basanpeer Jooni in Jaisalmer, was detained on Thursday by the CID (Intelligence) unit of Rajasthan Police. Authorities claim he transmitted sensitive information about Indian Army operations to Pakistani handlers in exchange for financial compensation.

Dr. Vishnukant, Inspector General of CID, stated that intelligence teams have been vigilantly monitoring potential espionage activities throughout the state. During routine surveillance, they detected suspicious behavior linked to Khan.

The investigation uncovered that Khan allegedly maintained regular communication with Pakistani intelligence operatives through various social media platforms.

Authorities noted that Khan's residence near the border gave him convenient access to sensitive areas. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to sharing information regarding critical military installations and troop movements.

"He was communicating with a Pakistani handler during Operation Sindoor and providing details about Army movements," explained a senior officer involved in the case.

Further investigation and technical analysis of Khan's mobile phone confirmed that he had been supplying critical military intelligence to the ISI for monetary gain. Based on substantial evidence collected, the CID Intelligence registered a case under the Official Secrets Act of 1923 and formally arrested Khan on Thursday.

This incident represents the fourth espionage-related arrest in the Jaisalmer region this year alone, highlighting ongoing security concerns in the sensitive border district.
