New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), under National President JP Nadda's leadership, has strategically appointed heavyweight campaign managers for Bihar, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, setting the stage for critical electoral contests over the next two years. These appointments deploy Union Ministers and veteran strategists to politically significant states, often bringing external perspectives to minimize local factionalism while ensuring alignment with central leadership.
For the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the BJP has assembled a formidable team reflecting the state's political complexity. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a trusted strategist with success expanding the party's presence in Odisha and managing BJP's recent victory in Haryana despite anti-incumbency factors, has been appointed State Election In-Charge.
Supporting Pradhan are two strategic co-in-charges: Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil from Gujarat, known for his close relationship with Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah, will ensure efficient coordination between state and central leadership. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, a prominent OBC leader, brings grassroots mobilization capabilities aimed at consolidating crucial OBC support for the NDA alliance.
For the challenging 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the BJP has appointed Union Minister Bhupender Yadav as State Election In-Charge. Recognized as the party's organizational troubleshooter, Yadav brings significant experience from successfully managing the 2020 Bihar polls where BJP emerged as the alliance's largest party. His proven track record in complex political environments like Rajasthan and Maharashtra demonstrates the central leadership's confidence in his capabilities.
Biplab Kumar Deb, former Tripura Chief Minister and current MP, will serve as Co-Incharge for West Bengal. Deb's recent electoral successes, including BJP's victory in the 2024 Haryana elections and a significant win in the New Delhi constituency, highlight his valuable leadership experience in politically sensitive regions.
For Tamil Nadu's 2026 assembly elections, the BJP has appointed National Vice President and MP Baijayant Panda as Election In-Charge, signaling serious intent to increase the party's southern footprint. Panda's organizational expertise from previous roles in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, and Delhi positions him to navigate Tamil Nadu's strong regional political ecosystem. Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation, will serve as Co-Incharge, bringing fresh administrative perspective from his experience as former Pune Mayor.
The strategic deployment of experienced non-local leaders across these states reflects BJP's established approach of introducing fresh perspectives while ensuring campaign machinery aligns seamlessly with central leadership vision. These appointments demonstrate the party's proactive preparation for these critical upcoming state elections, aiming to minimize regional factionalism while maximizing organizational effectiveness.
