New Delhi:
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took a significant step towards improving emergency healthcare services by flagging off 11 new CATS ambulances in the national capital on Thursday. During the event, she announced an ambitious plan to expand the ambulance fleet to 53 by October, with the ultimate goal of deploying 1,000 ambulances across Delhi.
The Chief Minister unveiled multiple healthcare initiatives alongside the ambulance launch, including special schemes under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), a new organ transplant awareness portal, and a District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC).
"Today, 11 ambulances have been launched. By October, the number will reach 53, and we are working to take the total strength to 1,000 to ensure every resident has timely access to emergency medical services," Gupta stated.
Highlighting her administration's healthcare priorities, the Chief Minister remarked, "We want an ambulance to reach a patient even before a pizza is delivered in Delhi." The government's comprehensive approach includes new measures under the NTEP to accelerate tuberculosis elimination efforts in the city and a dedicated portal to promote organ donation awareness.
Officials mentioned that the newly inaugurated DEIC will provide early screening, diagnosis, and intervention services for children with developmental delays and disabilities, further strengthening Delhi's healthcare infrastructure.
