New Delhi:
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the BJP's election in-charge for the upcoming Bihar elections, which will challenge the Nitish Kumar-led NDA coalition against the state's deeply embedded caste dynamics and opposition calls for governmental change.
Supporting Mr Pradhan in this role will be two co-in-charges: Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil and Uttar Pradesh minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Election dates are anticipated to be revealed next month.
The Bihar election represents one of this year's most significant political battlegrounds, with all 243 legislative assembly seats up for grabs. The contest has already intensified political rhetoric from Patna to Delhi.
This electoral showdown will focus on multiple issues ranging from development initiatives to law and order maintenance, contrasting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's governance track record against Tejashwi Yadav's emphasis on social justice, with both sides strategically selecting their alliance partners. Another notable element is election strategist Prashant Kishor's newly formed Jan Suraaj party and its potential impact.
The BJP has also designated in-charges for upcoming elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, scheduled for early next year. Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav will oversee operations in Bengal with Tripura MP Biplab Deb as co-in-charge, while Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda will lead efforts in Tamil Nadu.
Having previously gained ground in West Bengal, the BJP aims to build upon these advances at the expense of the ruling Trinamool Congress, while also attempting to challenge the established Dravidian political dominance in Tamil Nadu.
