The ongoing tension between Jothimani and Senthil Balaji is not their first public disagreement.

Chennai:

A conflict has emerged between Tamil Nadu's governing DMK and its alliance partner Congress in Karur, where Congress MP Jothimani has alleged that DMK District Secretary V Senthil Balaji has shown disrespect toward the Congress party. The MP emphasized that both sides should maintain alliance dharma and expressed hope for intervention from state Congress president Selvaperunthagai and DMK leader and Chief Minister MK Stalin.

In a recent incident, Senthil Balaji posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) claiming that Karur "Mahila Congress chief Kavitha" had joined the DMK ranks.

This post angered women's cell leader M Hazeena Syed, who clarified that the individual mentioned by Senthil Balaji is not even an official member of the organization.

While Mr. Balaji subsequently removed his post from X, Ms. Jothimani captured a screenshot and shared it, accusing him of disrespecting Congress.

"Alliance dharma should be followed by both sides. How can we accept a DMK district secretary, a former minister, insulting the Congress party in public like this? In the name of alliance, we will never tolerate such disrespect. This is not the first time such incidents have happened," her statement read.

This represents another chapter in the history of public disagreements between Jothimani and Senthil Balaji, who are known to frequently clash over administrative decisions concerning Karur.

The opposition AIADMK has attempted to politicize this latest dispute, with party leader Edappadi Palaniswami suggesting that fractures are appearing in the DMK-Congress alliance as some Congress members demand power-sharing arrangements.

Neither the DMK nor its representatives have officially responded to Ms. Jothimani's statements. The party has dismissed AIADMK's allegations and maintained that their alliance remains strong.
