New Delhi:
The Delhi government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is preparing to unveil numerous development projects and welfare schemes beginning on Wednesday, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 75th birthday celebration.
At an event scheduled for 1 pm on Wednesday at Thyagraj stadium, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate 15 development initiatives including new hospital blocks, 101 Arogya Mandir, 150 dialysis centers, 75 drones for police operations, and lay foundation stones for two waste-to-energy plants, according to officials.
The birthday celebrations for PM Modi will commence at 7 am with a blood donation camp and 'Sewa Sankalp Walk' at Kartavya Path, alongside an exhibition showcasing the Centre's development initiatives in the national capital.
The BJP-led Delhi government plans to launch 75 development projects and welfare programs during a 15-day "Sewa Pakhwada" (service fortnight) running from September 19 to October 2, marking the Prime Minister's 75th birthday this year.
On Thursday evening, a musical program titled 'Mera Desh Pahle-The Untold Story of Shri Narendra Modi', conceptualized and presented by renowned Bollywood lyricist Manoj Muntashir, will be held at IGI stadium.
During the Sewa Pakhwada period, projects worth Rs 3,000 crore by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Public Works Department (PWD) will be launched on various dates.
Officials have confirmed that the much-anticipated Delhi Drainage Master Plan will also be unveiled, offering a comprehensive strategy to address waterlogging and flooding issues across the capital while ensuring long-term resilience against extreme weather conditions.
The Delhi government will additionally launch several infrastructure projects, including multilevel car parking facilities at GK and Punjabi Bagh, the long-awaited foot overbridge for Rajputana Rifles, and the Nand Nagari flyover.
One particularly anticipated project is the foundation stone laying ceremony for a foot overbridge near the Rajputana Rifles regiment base in Delhi Cantt, which will provide much-needed relief to hundreds of military personnel and their families who currently must navigate through an unsanitary underpass for local travel.
Various sanitation and water treatment projects will be unveiled, including the 564 MLD Okhla STP, Keshopur Phase II & III STPs, and rehabilitation of Kondli WWTP (Phases I, III) under the Yamuna Action Plan-III. The Ring Road/Yamuna Swachhata Abhiyan will also be launched during this fortnight.
Educational and healthcare initiatives will feature prominently with the inauguration of CM Shri Schools, a new MC Primary School at Prem Nagar, and a new block at Karampura Centre of BR Ambedkar University.
A new fire station at Narela and the foundation of a Rs 65 crore grid station near Mandoli Jail, which will benefit approximately 38,000 residents, will also be part of the unveiling ceremonies.
