The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) announced on Tuesday that Monorail services in Mumbai will be temporarily suspended starting September 20 until further notice due to comprehensive system upgradation work.
"This scheduled suspension will enable quicker integration of new rolling stock, implementation of advanced CBTC signalling enhancements, and renovation of the existing fleet, ultimately providing safer, more efficient, and dependable transportation services for Mumbai residents," the MMRDA explained in an official statement.
According to the authority, the temporary halt in services is necessary for system modernization and to ensure future-ready operational capabilities.
