Adani Energy Solutions Certified As 'Zero-Waste To Landfill' Organisation

AESL continues its environmental leadership as the sole transmission utility achieving 100 percent waste diversion for another consecutive year.

Ahmedabad:

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) announced on Wednesday that Intertek, a globally recognized quality assurance provider, has certified all its operational facilities and corporate headquarters as 'Zero-Waste-to-Landfill' (ZWL). The company has successfully achieved a complete 100 percent waste diversion rate with zero waste sent to landfills.

The ZWL certification signifies diverting a minimum of 90 percent of waste from landfills, primarily through strategies of reduction, reuse, recycling, and recovery methods. According to Adani Energy Solutions, this waste management approach focuses on resource conservation by extending material lifecycles, thereby reducing demand for virgin materials and minimizing environmental impact.

This certification represents a significant milestone in AESL's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) journey that began in FY21 with the ambitious vision of becoming one of the "Top 10 Electric Utility Companies globally in ESG benchmarking".

Over the previous three fiscal years, the company demonstrated remarkable progress with waste diversion rates of 99.87 percent, 99.88 percent, and 99.99 percent respectively. This achievement established AESL as India's first transmission company to maintain over 99 percent diversion consistently for three successive years.

Once again this year, AESL stands alone among transmission utilities in achieving the perfect 100 percent diversion rate.

AESL's operational footprint spans 54 locations across 16 Indian states. Many of these facilities are situated in remote and challenging environments, making the ZWL achievement particularly noteworthy.

This accomplishment underscores the company's robust ESG commitment, successfully integrating operational excellence with sustainability principles.

As India's largest private transmission company, AESL maintains presence across 16 states with a comprehensive transmission network of 26,696 ckm and transformation capacity of 93,236 MVA.

In its distribution operations, AESL provides services to more than 12 million consumers in metropolitan Mumbai and the Mundra SEZ industrial hub. The company is also rapidly expanding its smart metering business and is positioned to become India's leading smart metering integrator with an order portfolio exceeding 22.8 million meters.
