Chilli Powder Thrown At Software Engineer's Face While 3-Year-Old Son Abducted

The footage shows the desperate father pursuing the kidnapper and grasping the vehicle door.
Chennai:
Authorities in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district successfully recovered a three-year-old boy who was violently abducted in daylight outside his residence in Gudiyatham on Wednesday.
Footage obtained by NDTV depicts the child's father, Venu, embracing his traumatized son inside a police vehicle following the rescue operation.
Previously, surveillance camera recordings—pending independent verification by NDTV—had documented the terrifying abduction sequence: a helmet-wearing individual exiting a white vehicle bearing Karnataka license plates, entering the residence, and rapidly emerging with the child. The father, who had just arrived home with his son, a lower kindergarten student, from school, was recorded chasing after the vehicle and clinging to its door before falling to the ground.
A high-ranking police official informed NDTV about the successful rescue, stating, "The perpetrator remains at large. The motivation is currently unknown. Our investigation is ongoing."
In a statement to reporters immediately after the incident, Venu recounted, "The helmet-wearing individual sprayed chili powder into my eyes and seized my child. I attempted to restrain him, but he managed to escape with my son."
Investigators recovered a package of chili powder at the crime scene, with residue visible on the father's clothing.
According to police sources, the kidnappers utilized a vehicle with what appears to be counterfeit Karnataka registration. All border checkpoints were notified, and special teams were deployed to track the vehicle's movements.
The abduction, occurring on a residential street during daylight hours, sparked fear and indignation throughout Gudiyatham town. With the child now recovered safely, authorities indicate that efforts to locate and apprehend the kidnappers have intensified.
