The 19-year-old student from Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, Anurag Anil Borkar, committed suicide on the day he was set to depart for medical college enrollment.
Anurag left a suicide note indicating that he did not wish to pursue a career in medicine.
The deceased, who resided in Nawargaon in Sindewahi taluka with his family, had recently achieved an impressive 99.99 percentile in the NEET UG 2025 examination, securing an All India Rank of 1475 in the OBC category. Following this accomplishment, preparations were underway for his journey to Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, where he was to enroll in an MBBS program.
Police reports indicate that Anurag took his own life at his home before his scheduled departure to Gorakhpur. He was discovered hanging at his residence. Authorities recovered a suicide note from the scene. While official details of the note remain undisclosed to media outlets, police sources have unofficially revealed that Anurag had expressed his unwillingness to become a doctor.
The Navargaon Police are currently conducting an investigation into the case.
Adolescents often experience significant academic and educational pressure. It's crucial for them to understand that academic pursuits represent just one aspect of their lives rather than their entire identity. To better cope with stress, teenagers should endeavor to communicate openly with family members and friends about their experiences. Expressing one's feelings can provide a sense of support and reduce feelings of isolation.
