A shirtless bodybuilder strikes poses at Ujjain's Mahakal Temple complex, sparking outrage

Bhopal:
The revered Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has found itself embroiled in controversy once again due to inappropriate conduct within its premises. An Instagram video showing a bodybuilder displaying his physique while bare-chested at the Mahakal Mahalok complex has triggered widespread criticism from devotees and renewed questions about behavioral standards at this sacred site.
The controversial footage, posted approximately a week ago from an Instagram account identified as Golu Banjara, depicts a young man wearing only a saffron dhoti while flexing his muscles and striking poses before spectators, including several young women.
The video, which features added film music in the background, gained significant traction across social media platforms this week.
Temple officials have acknowledged the incident.
"We are currently investigating the matter. Appropriate action will follow once we verify all the facts," stated Ashish Falwadia, assistant administrator of the Mahakal Temple.
Notably, the footage appears to show security personnel engaging casually with the young man, raising serious concerns about vigilance protocols at this sacred location.
This incident represents the latest in a series of similar occurrences at the Mahakal complex.
Despite repeated warnings from temple administration, recent months have witnessed multiple videos surfacing online showing visitors dancing, celebrating birthdays with cakes, and creating casual social media content while inappropriately dressed. Though security responsibilities have been assigned to employees of a contracted private firm, enforcement evidently remains inadequate.
Commenting on the incident, Hindu Jagran Manch leader Arjun Bhadoria expressed dismay: "This temple symbolizes faith and cultural heritage. Regrettably, people are treating it like a recreational spot. Despite security presence, such videos continue to be created. Bodybuilding displays or similar exhibitions have no place within temple grounds."
