40-Year-Old Man Held For Running Over Two Men With His Car In Delhi

A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly running over two men in central Delhi's Paharganj with police seizing his blood-stained car, an official said on Tuesday.

Authorities have arrested a 40-year-old individual for allegedly driving over two men in the Paharganj area of central Delhi, with law enforcement confiscating his blood-stained vehicle, an official announced on Tuesday.
The event occurred approximately at 2:20 am on September 14 near the Rail Reservation Centre on Chelmsford Road, where two injured individuals were discovered and subsequently transported to Lady Hardinge Medical College Hospital, he stated.
The victims were identified as Kalu Das (50) and Anil Das (48), both from Banka district in Bihar, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan.
A case was filed at Paharganj police station, and a specialized team was assembled to locate the vehicle and perpetrator. During their inquiry, surveillance footage revealed a red car driving over the victims who were positioned near the footpath.
Through technical surveillance and community interviews, investigators determined that only one such vehicle routinely operated in the vicinity, registered to Govind Gupta, a resident of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, the DCP further explained.
Law enforcement analyzed Gupta's call records and location data, which verified his presence near Munjiya Chowk in Paharganj at the time of the incident. Following a raid, Gupta was apprehended, the DCP reported.
The red vehicle, which contained blood evidence, was also impounded. According to police, the accused has admitted to his involvement in the incident.
