Guwahati:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for a two-day visit to Assam beginning December 20, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, to inaugurate several significant development initiatives across the state.

During a Facebook Live session, Chief Minister Sarma revealed that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the new terminal building at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati on December 20. The terminal, constructed at a cost of Rs 4,000 crore, will be formally dedicated to the nation. Additionally, PM Modi will unveil an impressive 80-foot statue of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi within the airport premises.

"The newly constructed terminal features a design that will be widely appreciated. It presents an entirely refreshed aesthetic. We have also made plans to build an elevated corridor along the airport road to enhance both the visual appeal and connectivity between the airport and Jalukbari," the Chief Minister stated.

Following the airport ceremony, the Prime Minister will engage with party members at the BJP state headquarters in Guwahati.

On December 21, PM Modi will visit the river terminal on the Brahmaputra in Guwahati at approximately 8 am. From there, he will board the Charaideo vessel to participate in the 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' program with approximately 25-30 students, according to Sarma.

The Prime Minister will also honor the 855 martyrs of the Assam Movement at Swahid Smarak in Boragaon. Later that day, he will travel to Dibrugarh to lay the foundation stone for the Namrup-IV Ammonia-Urea project.

The brownfield ammonia-urea complex will be established at the existing Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited premises with a projected investment of Rs 10,000 crore.

"Following the foundation stone laying ceremony, Assam will enter a new phase of industrialization. The Namrup-IV plant will produce 12 lakh metric tonnes of urea annually, which will satisfy domestic demand and enable exports as well," Sarma added.
