Tragic Discovery: Abandoned Newborn's Remains Found With Stray Dogs in Odisha's Balasore

Police authorities have launched an investigation to identify the responsible individuals.

On Tuesday in Odisha's Balasore district, parts of an abandoned newborn's body were found in the mouths of stray dogs.

This distressing incident took place in Balikatiran village of Balasore. Villagers spotted several stray dogs wandering near a playground carrying what they discovered were human remains. Upon closer examination, they confirmed these were parts of a newborn baby. Horrified by what they witnessed, the residents immediately drove away the dogs and managed to recover portions of the infant's body.

The villagers promptly alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and collected the remains. After completing the necessary procedures, the police respectfully buried the body parts with the villagers present.

Initial investigations indicate that the newborn was likely abandoned shortly after birth and left exposed, making the baby vulnerable to stray animals. However, the complete circumstances surrounding the infant's death remain to be determined.

Police officials have begun an investigation to identify those responsible and are searching nearby locations, including healthcare facilities and residential areas, to gather evidence.
