22-Year-Old Man Arrested for Kidnapping and Sexual Assault of Minor in Uttar Pradesh

Authorities arrested a 22-year-old man on Tuesday in Sitapur district for allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old girl and subjecting her to repeated sexual assault over a period of nearly two weeks, according to officials.

Police reports indicate that the victim, a class 10 student from a village under the jurisdiction of the Dubhar police station, disappeared on December 1 after leaving her home to attend college.

When the girl failed to return home, her concerned family members initiated a search and subsequently filed a missing person report the following day.

Dubhar Station House Officer Ajay Pal stated that law enforcement personnel successfully rescued the minor on Monday from a location within the Dubhar area.

During her statement to police, the teenage girl revealed that she had established contact with Ranjit Pal (22), a resident of Sarva village in Sitapur district's Sidhauli area, through mobile communications.

The minor alleged that Ranjit abducted her and sexually assaulted her repeatedly over the course of nearly two weeks.

Based on the victim's testimony, authorities added rape charges against the accused and additionally filed charges under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Superintendent of Police Omveer Singh confirmed that law enforcement personnel apprehended the accused in Dubhar town on Tuesday and remanded him to jail following completion of all necessary legal procedures.
