Manipur BJP MLAs Convene in Delhi: Crucial Discussions on Peace Process and State's Future

Manipur BJP MLAs convened in Delhi on Sunday for a crucial meeting to address the ongoing situation in the state.

The BJP Manipur Legislature Party meeting, held at the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi, saw participation from over 30 MLAs, including two representatives from the Kuki community.

The party announced on social media platform X, "The BJP Manipur Legislature Party meeting was held today at the BJP Headquarters in New Delhi, in the presence of BJP national general secretary (Organisation) Shri @BLSanthosh ji and Northeast Coordinator Shri @sambitswaraj ji."

According to the statement, the primary focus of the discussion was on establishing peace and promoting progress in Manipur, a state that has faced significant challenges in recent times.

The ethnic conflict between Meiteis and Kukis since May 2023 has resulted in more than 260 fatalities and left thousands of residents homeless, creating a humanitarian crisis in the region.

In February, the Central Government imposed President's rule in Manipur following the resignation of N Biren Singh from his position as chief minister. The state assembly, which has a term until 2027, has been placed under suspended animation.

Sources within the party revealed that the formation of a popular government in Manipur at the earliest opportunity was another key topic of discussion during the meeting.

The legislators also deliberated on strategies to secure financial assistance from the Central Government to accelerate development projects in the state, which could potentially contribute to stabilizing the situation.

The meeting represents a significant effort by the BJP to address the complex challenges facing Manipur and chart a path forward for the state's recovery and development.
