48-Year-Old Woman Fatally Stabbed Inside Delhi Temple: Investigation Reveals Possible Personal Enmity

A 48-year-old woman was fatally stabbed inside a temple in east Delhi's Mansarovar Park area on Sunday, according to police officials. Authorities have arrested a female suspect and recovered the weapon used in the attack.

The violent incident took place around midday at a temple within the DDA flats complex while the victim was engaged in prayer activities.

Police received an emergency call reporting the stabbing at approximately 12 pm.

The victim, identified as Kusum Sharma from Mansarovar Park, suffered multiple stab wounds to her head and upper body. She was immediately transported to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, where medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival.

DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam stated, "We have detained the primary suspect, a woman identified as Anchal Saxena. The murder weapon has also been seized."

The officer mentioned that the caller informed police that two individuals had stabbed a woman priest in the head.

Initial investigation indicates that two people, including the detained woman, repeatedly attacked Sharma with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries.

"Preliminary evidence suggests this may be related to an old enmity, but further investigation continues. Multiple teams have been formed to thoroughly investigate the case," the DCP explained.

Police officials reported that several teams from district and crime units were assembled to apprehend the perpetrators, resulting in one detention later that day.

Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the DDA flats, surrounding streets, parks, and entry-exit points to track the attackers' movements before and after the crime.

Video footage from various locations in and around the area is being carefully examined. Technical surveillance and local intelligence are being utilized to identify the second assailant. Forensic teams have thoroughly examined the crime scene.

While the exact motive behind the murder remains under investigation, initial inquiries point toward possible personal enmity or a targeted attack.

"All possible angles are being thoroughly investigated, including personal disputes. Nothing is being ruled out at this stage," the officer stated.

Family members, neighbors, and local residents have been questioned to establish a clear sequence of events.

A murder case has been registered at the Mansarovar Park police station, and further legal proceedings are in progress.
