Massive 40-Vehicle Pile-Up on Haryana Highway: Dense Fog Causes Multiple Accidents and Injuries Across Districts

Dense fog caused a catastrophic 40-vehicle pile-up on Haryana's highway, resulting in numerous injuries across Rohtak, Hisar, and Rewari districts. The chain-reaction accidents primarily involved trucks and buses colliding due to severely limited visibility during the ongoing cold wave, where temperatures have dropped to 4-6°C. The IMD had issued warnings about hazardous driving conditions in the region.

Dense Fog Leads To Massive Pile-Up On Haryana Highway, Many Drivers Injured

In Haryana's Rohtak region, specifically in the Meham area, a significant accident involving 35-40 vehicles occurred, with trucks being the majority of vehicles involved in the collision.

New Delhi:

Dense fog dramatically reduced visibility on a Haryana highway this Sunday, resulting in a massive pile-up involving at least three dozen vehicles including trucks and buses. The incident left numerous drivers and passengers injured and caused substantial damage to vehicles. Additional separate accidents were also reported in Hisar and Rewari districts of Haryana.

The major collision in Rohtak's Meham area involved between 35-40 vehicles, predominantly trucks, and resulted in multiple injuries. The accident sequence began at a highway intersection where a truck and car initially collided, triggering a chain reaction that involved dozens of other vehicles.

Injured individuals were transported to hospitals while police and administration officials conducted relief operations at the scene. Video footage revealed one truck severely crushed with bystanders rushing to rescue those trapped inside.

In Hisar, another incident occurred around 8 am on National Highway 52 at Dhiktana Moda, involving two state roadway buses colliding with other vehicles. The sequence began when a Kaithal roadways bus collided with a dumper truck. A second bus following behind then crashed into them, followed by a car and a motorcycle joining the pile-up.

Remarkably, most individuals involved in this accident escaped without injuries, except for the motorcycle rider who required hospitalization.

Haryana has been experiencing severe cold weather conditions for several days, with temperatures ranging between 4-6 degrees Celsius across most areas of the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously issued a cold wave alert for Haryana. Their warning highlighted hazardous road conditions and advised travelers to exercise caution by using low-beam headlights and maintaining safe distances while driving through fog-affected areas.
