Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that the Opposition was using SIR as an excuse because they couldn't accept their electoral defeats.
On Saturday, the BJP government led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav marked two years in office. Just two days prior, Madhya Pradesh achieved a significant milestone by being declared Maoist-free, ending nearly 35 years of insurgent violence in the state.
In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Yadav discussed his government's key accomplishments, challenges faced, and future priorities.
When asked about his three most significant achievements, Yadav responded: "I approach every department with equal responsibility and affection. A chief minister must maintain a positive outlook toward the entire cabinet and administration."
He emphasized that eliminating Maoist violence was particularly meaningful. "Balaghat suffered for decades. With the final operation conducted by our police force, we have succeeded in making Madhya Pradesh completely Maoist-free."
The Chief Minister also highlighted the world's first river-linking project implemented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the Green Field Expressway, new tiger reserves, introducing shikara rides in the Upper Lake, and increasing the Ladli Behna Yojana assistance to Rs 1,500.
Reflecting on lessons learned during his tenure, Yadav noted: "In Madhya Pradesh, there is complete freedom to work, but every decision must be taken with responsibility and caution." He cited the successful disposal of Union Carbide waste that had remained for nearly 40 years and organizing the Global Investors Summit in Bhopal as challenging tasks his administration accomplished.
Addressing questions about the Ladli Behna scheme payments reaching Rs 1,500 instead of the promised Rs 3,000, Yadav confidently stated: "Have any of our announcements remained unfulfilled? Every commitment made so far has been honored. We will go even further for women's empowerment."
When asked what question he would pose if he were in the Opposition, Yadav declined to answer such a hypothetical question, stating there was still much work to be completed.
The Chief Minister confirmed that both the Bhopal Master Plan and Metropolitan City Plan would be released shortly. Regarding the withdrawn Mamleshwar Lok and land pooling projects, he emphasized that his government would not create obstacles to world-class fairs and traditions linked to these sites, promising to take farmers, citizens, and the administration along in development efforts.
On the Opposition's criticism of the Special Intensive Revision, Yadav dismissed it as "merely an excuse" from those unable to accept defeat.
Yadav shared that Prime Minister Modi would participate virtually in the Bhopal Metro project launch, while Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would attend in person. "It is a matter of great pride that Madhya Pradesh now has two cities with Metro rail systems," he stated.
The interview also touched on Yadav's personal interests, including devotional music, wrestling, and swordsmanship. He mentioned keeping cows named Meera, Varsha, and Radhika at the chief minister's residence, saying: "It is a hectic life, but it also brings peace and a sense of tradition."
When asked about his son's wedding held as part of a mass marriage ceremony, Yadav emphasized the importance of simplicity: "The Prime Minister himself is an ideal in this regard, and I followed his example. Simplicity matters, and values must be passed on to children."
