On Friday, Garima Garg, the wife of late singer Zubeen Garg, expressed her support for the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) chargesheet, which has implicated four individuals in her husband's murder case.
"The investigation was initiated based on our family's FIR against the accused. We are very grateful to the investigating agency as the probe proceeded as expected," Garima stated while speaking to reporters.
She further mentioned that the investigation's findings aligned with public expectations, adding, "Everything now depends on the judicial process, which we hope will progress smoothly. We have complete faith in our nation's judiciary and desire appropriate punishment for those found guilty."
Garima revealed that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has indicated plans to request the Chief Justice for a fast-track court. She emphasized, "We also want this matter resolved promptly. Our household has been devastated, and people are deeply disturbed that someone like Zubeen Garg could be murdered. All of Assam's residents want to see justice served to the guilty parties."
Regarding Singaporean authorities' involvement in the investigation, she clarified that the probe is based on the family's FIR, and they maintain complete confidence in both the investigation and judicial system.
The SIT investigating Zubeen Garg's death filed a chargesheet in court on Friday, charging four individuals with murder, including the singer's secretary Siddhartha Sharma and festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta.
Additionally, murder charges have been brought against Garg's band members, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta.
Shyamkanu Mahanta was the principal organizer of the North East India Festival, which Garg had traveled to Singapore to attend. The singer died under mysterious circumstances while swimming in the sea on September 19.
The singer's two personal security officers (PSOs), Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya, have been charged with criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust for misappropriating funds or property entrusted to them.
