In Chhattisgarh, a major controversy has emerged involving Raipur hotelier Deepak Tandon and DSP Kalpana Verma, a 2017-batch police officer stationed in Dantewada. Tandon has made serious allegations against the officer, including bribery, blackmail, fraud, and emotional manipulation. What initially appeared to be a financial disagreement has evolved into a complex scandal featuring claims of romantic entanglement, financial exploitation, threats, allegedly forged communications, dishonored checks, and mutual accusations that have unsettled both law enforcement and commercial circles throughout the state.

Deepak Tandon states that his acquaintance with DSP Kalpana began in 2021, developing into a close relationship. Over four years, he alleges she manipulated him "under the pretext of marriage." According to Tandon, during this period, Kalpana allegedly obtained over Rs 2 crore in cash, a diamond ring valued at Rs 12 lakh, gold jewelry worth more than Rs 5 lakh, a bracelet costing Rs 1 lakh, and his Innova Crysta vehicle. The businessman further claims she pressured him to transfer ownership of one of his hotels on Raipur's VIP Road to her brother, who subsequently transferred it to her name after an expenditure of Rs 30 lakh.

Tandon alleges that the DSP later resorted to blackmail, threatening to implicate him in fabricated cases when he refused to comply with her continued demands. He has reportedly provided WhatsApp conversations, surveillance footage, and additional digital evidence to the Khamhardih police station. Despite taking statements from both parties, authorities have not yet registered an FIR, characterizing the situation as a "financial dispute under investigation."

The situation became more complicated when, two months prior, DSP Kalpana's father, Hemant Verma, filed a complaint at Pandri police station. He claimed that Deepak Tandon owed him money from a previous business arrangement, and that a security cheque issued by Tandon's wife had been dishonored. This cheque bounce case is presently before the court, where Barkha Tandon has been required to appear regularly.

As Tandon's accusations gained widespread attention, DSP Kalpana addressed the allegations. In her communication with NDTV, she categorically rejected the claims, describing them as "false, malicious, and defamatory." She maintains that her name has been inappropriately associated with a personal business disagreement between her father and Tandon. She contends that the widely circulated chat messages are fabricated using images taken from her social media accounts, warning that such actions constitute a criminal offense.

Kalpana stated that the vehicle mentioned by Tandon was legally acquired from his wife, Barkha Tandon, with complete documentation and registration transfer. She challenged him to produce any evidence supporting his assertions.

The DSP also questioned the timing of these allegations, noting that Tandon had not raised any complaints during the four-year period, and that his wife, despite being directly involved in a cheque bounce case, had not previously filed any complaint. She suggested that Tandon had invented the entire narrative to evade legal responsibility.

In a forceful statement, DSP Kalpana declared, "Linking my name to a financial dispute is an attempt to tarnish my image. Using a woman officer's character for personal or political gain is unacceptable. I am filing a defamation suit." She has also called for a comprehensive audit of all financial accounts belonging to Deepak and Barkha Tandon, suggesting there may be financial irregularities beyond the case involving her family.

Deepak Tandon remains resolute in his accusations, insisting he was emotionally manipulated, financially exploited, and subsequently threatened.

As the confrontation continues, Chhattisgarh Police has begun examining digital evidence, financial transactions, and complaint records. No formal police report has been registered thus far.
