Fatal Collision: 4 Police Officers Killed When Bomb Disposal Squad Vehicle Crashes with Truck on NH-44 in Madhya Pradesh

The collision resulted in four police officers losing their lives and one sustaining critical injuries.

A devastating incident occurred on Wednesday when a police vehicle transporting members of the Bomb Disposal and Dog Squad (BDDS) crashed head-on with a speeding container truck on National Highway 44 (NH-44). The collision, which happened in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district, claimed the lives of four policemen and left one severely injured.

SHO Samer Jagat reported that the collision was so severe that the police vehicle was instantly crushed, causing the immediate death of four officers. Response teams from local police and administration hurried to the accident scene as soon as they were notified.

The officers had been assigned to an anti-Naxal operation in Balaghat. They were making their way back to Morena in a BDDS vehicle (MP 03 A 4883) when the tragic accident occurred in Jhinjhani Valley, a dangerous section near Bandri.

Authorities confirmed that the container truck was traveling at high velocity from the opposite direction when it smashed into the police vehicle. The impact of the collision was so powerful that the front section of the police vehicle was completely destroyed.

One constable who sustained critical injuries was promptly transported to the hospital and subsequently airlifted to Delhi's Ganga Ram Hospital for specialized treatment. His condition remains critical. Remarkably, the squad's dog, who was also in the vehicle during the collision, emerged unharmed.

Reports indicate that ongoing construction of an underpass on NH-44 near Bandri has limited traffic to a single lane. The constrained passage combined with the excessive speed of the container truck are believed to have led to the head-on collision.

Authorities have filed a case and are currently searching for the container truck driver, who reportedly abandoned the scene immediately following the accident.
