Microsoft's $17.5 Billion AI Investment in India: Adani and Nadella Discuss Future Technology Partnership

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, had a significant meeting with Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella on Wednesday, where they explored the extensive potential of artificial intelligence for technological advancement.
This meeting coincided with Microsoft's substantial announcement of a $17.5 billion investment in India, planned over the next four years to accelerate AI adoption across the country.
On social media platform X, Adani expressed, "Always a pleasure to meet @satyanadella and gain his valuable insights into the future of technology. We are excited to continue building a 360 degree partnership as the physical and digital worlds converge in the age of AI."
The Adani Group Chairman further shared his experience: "Getting a demo from him of the AI apps he is personally building was another testament to the hands-on leadership that truly great leaders exemplify."
Prior to meeting Adani, Nadella had met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Following their discussion, PM Modi emphasized that India's youth "will harness this opportunity to innovate and leverage the power of AI for a better planet."
Nadella commented on his interaction with the Prime Minister through X: "Thank you, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for an inspiring conversation on India's AI opportunity. To support the country's ambitions, Microsoft is committing US$17.5 billion — our largest investment ever in Asia—to help build the infrastructure, skills, and sovereign capabilities needed for India's AI first future."
In response, PM Modi stated: "When it comes to AI, the world is optimistic about India!"
The Prime Minister also shared: "Had a very productive discussion with Mr. Satya Nadella. Happy to see India being the place where Microsoft will make its largest-ever investment in Asia. The youth of India will harness this opportunity to innovate and leverage the power of AI for a better planet."
Microsoft highlighted that India is at a crucial juncture in its AI journey, characterized by impact at scale and determination to lead. As technology becomes a catalyst for inclusive growth and economic transformation, India is positioning itself as a frontier AI nation. Nadella's visit to India was part of his AI tour of the country.
