The Karnataka state government announced this as the second largest khadi national flag in the world.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah officially unveiled the world's second-largest khadi national flag at the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi on Tuesday. During the ceremony, he emphasized that the Indian tricolour represents more than just khadi fabric—it symbolizes the nation's pride and self-respect.

Government officials confirmed this flag as the "second largest" khadi national flag globally, with the largest reportedly displayed in Leh during 2021.

Speaking to attendees after the unveiling, Siddaramaiah highlighted that the tricolour was originally adopted during India's freedom struggle.

"The national flag isn't merely khadi material, but embodies India's pride and dignity. The tricolour with its saffron, white, and green hues along with the Ashoka Chakra conveys messages of national pride, economy, sacrifice, and peace, while inspiring patriotism among all Indians," Siddaramaiah stated.

He elaborated that white represents peace and truth, green symbolizes prosperity, and the Ashoka Chakra signifies continuous economic progress and equal opportunities for all citizens.

"We must honor the national flag and view it with pride. Every citizen should cultivate patriotism," he emphasized.

The Chief Minister congratulated Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader and family members of Vinod Kumar Revappa Bammanna from Kamalapur in Kalaburagi district, who donated the flag.

During the event, Siddaramaiah stressed the importance of remembering those who fought and sacrificed for the nation.

"The freedom struggle was waged under Mahatma Gandhi's leadership. Gandhi had presided over the Congress session in Belagavi. As it completes 100 years, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi has been installed beside the Suvarna Soudha," he noted.

He emphasized that people must foster love rather than hatred to build an equitable society, without which creating a secular nation becomes challenging.

"We all must be patriots. India encompasses numerous castes and religions, making it essential for everyone to uphold secularism," he stated.

Reflecting on the 75 years since Independence, the Chief Minister highlighted the need to evaluate how far the country has progressed in achieving fraternity, patriotism, and creating a humane society.

"Without these fundamental values, living as human beings becomes impossible. This mindset must develop among students and youth," he said, adding that his government ensures the Preamble of the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar is read in schools and colleges throughout the state.
