Financial Crunch, Hunt For Job, A Marriage Behind Kabaddi Player's Suicide In Nagpur

Kiran consumed poison on December 4 and passed away in a hospital three days later following her suicide attempt.

In Maharashtra's Nagpur, a 29-year-old kabaddi player has tragically died by suicide after her husband failed to deliver on his pre-marriage promise of securing her employment.

Facing financial difficulties, Kiran Suraj Dadhe married Swapnil Jaydev Lambghare in 2020.

The 30-year-old husband allegedly assured both Kiran and her brother that they would receive employment opportunities to help overcome their financial struggles.

Kiran, who competed at the national level in kabaddi, eventually discovered that she had been misled.

As Swapnil continuously delayed fulfilling the job promise while allegedly subjecting her to mental harassment and demanding sexual favors, Kiran ultimately left their home and returned to live with her parents.

When threats and verbal abuse began targeting her, Kiran's family encouraged her to file for divorce through the family court system.

She reportedly preserved messages on her mobile phone as evidence of the harassment.

On December 4, she attempted to end her life by consuming poison. Despite being rushed to medical care, she succumbed three days later.

Police have registered a case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses abetment to suicide, and are currently searching for Swapnil.
