The residential plan offers users an opportunity to evaluate service quality in their specific location.
New Delhi:
Elon Musk's Starlink has moved closer to its anticipated commercial launch in India, with complete residential pricing now displayed on the company's local website.
The satellite internet service is offered at Rs 8,600 per month, with new customers required to purchase hardware equipment priced at Rs 34,000.
The residential subscription allows customers to evaluate the service quality in their specific area before making a long-term commitment, featuring unlimited data usage and a 30-day trial period.
Starlink highlights several advantages including straightforward plug-and-play installation, reliability exceeding 99.9 percent uptime, resistance to severe weather conditions, and unlimited data consumption, particularly targeting consumers in areas where traditional broadband services remain unreliable.
While residential package details are now publicly available, the company has not yet announced pricing for its business-tier services. Starlink is anticipated to reveal its complete commercial offerings once ongoing discussions with government authorities make further progress.
Recent recruitment efforts suggest the company is scaling up operations in preparation for launch. In late October, SpaceX advertised four Bengaluru-based positions: Payments Manager, Accounting Manager, Senior Treasury Analyst and Tax Manager; describing these hirings as part of a broader international expansion strategy.
Previously, Maharashtra's government signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited to officially partner with Starlink for deploying satellite internet services for government institutions, rural communities, and essential public infrastructure across remote and underserved regions and aspirational districts in Maharashtra, including Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Dharashiv, and Washim.
The LoI was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state Information Technology Minister, Ashish Shelar.
"It was wonderful to welcome Lauren Dreyer, Vice President, Starlink, in Mumbai, where the Government of Maharashtra signed an LoI with Starlink Satellite Communications Private Limited, marking Maharashtra as the first Indian state to formally collaborate with Starlink. Elon Musk's Starlink is one of the largest companies in the ICT industry, holding the largest number of communication satellites in the world. It is our honour that the company is arriving in India and partnering with Maharashtra," CM Fadnavis had posted on his official X handle.
