Tragic Accident in Nashik: Six Lives Lost as Vehicle Plunges into 600-Foot Gorge in Maharashtra

A devastating accident occurred at 4pm in Maharashtra's Nashik district when a vehicle plunged into a deep gorge.
In Nashik's Kalwan taluka, six individuals lost their lives after their car fell into a 600-foot deep gorge at Saptashring Garh Ghat on Sunday afternoon, according to police officials.
The victims, all residents of Pimpalgaon Baswant in Niphad taluka, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota Innova vehicle, which was carrying seven passengers, sustained severe damage in the accident.
Authorities have identified the deceased as Kirti Patel (50), Raseela Patel (50), Vitthal Patel (65), Lata Patel (60), Vachan Patel (60), and Maniben Patel (70). Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil is currently overseeing rescue operations at the site.
The rescue efforts continue with personnel deployed from both local police forces and the district disaster management committee, as confirmed by Rohitkumar Rajput, the resident deputy collector and District Disaster Authority CEO.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences following the tragedy. "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Nashik, Maharashtra. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon," the Prime Minister stated.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the incident as "extremely tragic" and announced that the families of each victim would receive financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh from the state government.
The Chief Minister affirmed that the government stands in solidarity with the affected families, and rescue operations are proceeding with full administrative support at the accident location.
