The investigation progressed when law enforcement traced the victim's mobile phone location, which directed them to a neighbor's property in the Malawan region, officials confirmed.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shyam Narayan Singh visited the location, conducted a thorough examination and ordered stringent measures in the case.
Circle Officer (Sakeet) Kirtika Singh stated that the victim, identified as Jujhar Singh, was reported missing by his family members on Sunday. Police surveillance of his mobile phone led investigators to the residence of neighbor Indrapal Singh.
When authorities searched the premises, they discovered Jujhar Singh's dismembered body concealed inside a large trunk, she explained.
The horrific discovery caused alarm throughout the neighborhood and attracted numerous local residents. Amid the confusion, Indrapal Singh's family managed to escape, according to police.
A forensic team examined the crime scene while police reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify all individuals involved. The remains have been sent for postmortem examination.
Authorities indicated that investigations are continuing to determine the motive behind the murder, though a formal complaint regarding the case had not yet been received.
