Major Explosives Seizure in Rajasthan: Police Intercept Truck Carrying Dangerous Materials, Two Arrested

Authorities in Rajasthan's Rajsamand district have confiscated over 100 cartons containing explosive materials and arrested two individuals in connection with the incident. The seizure involved a pick-up truck loaded with dangerous materials including gelatin sticks and detonators, which experts suggest could potentially cause destruction within a 10-kilometer radius.

Law enforcement officials believe these explosives may have been intended for use in mining operations, as the region is known for its numerous marble quarries. The police action came following intelligence received about the suspicious vehicle.

Police reports indicate the seizure included 981 gelatin sticks, 93 detonators, and safety fuse material. The interception occurred during a strategic blockade established at Rajsamand's Trinetra Circle. The two suspects, identified as Bhagwat Singh and Himmat Singh, both Rajasthan residents, were unable to produce the legally required documentation for transporting such hazardous materials.

Authorities have impounded the vehicle and taken both suspects into custody. Officials confirmed that a formal case has been registered and a comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the source and intended destination of the explosives.

Nathdwara's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shipra Rajawat, provided details about the operation: "Acting on credible information, our team established a checkpoint and intercepted the pick-up truck. The search revealed 100 cartons containing explosive materials, specifically 981 shells, 93 detonators, and a 30-foot safety fuse. Both the driver and his companion failed to present the mandatory permits required for transporting explosives. Both individuals have been arrested and their vehicle seized."
