Union Minister L Murugan: Unable To Learn Hindi Due To Tamil Nadu Politics

L Murugan emphasized that learning Hindi is his fundamental right.

Varanasi (UP):

On Tuesday, Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L Murugan revealed that political circumstances in Tamil Nadu prevented him from learning Hindi, and he only began learning the language after relocating to Delhi. He asserted that learning Hindi is his rightful entitlement.

During the inauguration ceremony of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, Murugan stated, "Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan ji introduced the New Education Policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. However, due to political conditions in Tamil Nadu, I couldn't learn Hindi. I only started learning after coming to Delhi. My Hindi remains broken, and I apologize for any mistakes." The Minister added that he would refrain from discussing politics at the event.

"Why am I being denied the opportunity to learn Hindi? Learning Hindi is my right, but there are no opportunities available in Tamil Nadu," Murugan remarked.

The NEP's three-language formula has sparked controversy, with Tamil Nadu refusing implementation on grounds that it represents Hindi imposition by the central government.

The central government has consistently denied these allegations.

Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath jointly inaugurated the fourth edition of the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam on Tuesday.

Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, which commenced today at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, features an exhibition organized by the Central Bureau of Communications, Lucknow, a division of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The exhibition showcases the philosophical teachings of prominent figures from Kashi and Tamil Nadu, alongside central government welfare initiatives, according to an official statement.

Dr L Murugan inaugurated the exhibition before opening it to public viewing, which will continue until December 15.

On the exhibition's opening day, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Dharmendra Pradhan, Puducherry Lieutenant Governor K Kailashnathan, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and numerous other dignitaries visited the displays.

Adityanath commented that the exhibition would enhance public awareness about both Kashi and Tamil cultures, as well as government welfare programs.

The photo exhibition also highlighted the contributions and achievements of distinguished personalities from Tamil Nadu and Kashi in nation-building efforts.

This Sangamam edition centers on 'Let Us Learn Tamil: Tamil Karkalam,' placing Tamil language education and linguistic unity at the heart of the event, according to an official statement.

Key programs include Tamil Karkalam (Tamil instruction in Varanasi schools), Tamil Karpom (Tamil learning study tours for 300 Kashi region students), and the Sage Agastya vehicle expedition (following the historical route from Tenkasi to Kashi).

This year's Sangamam will conclude with a grand valedictory function in Rameswaram, symbolically completing the cultural connection from Kashi to Tamil Nadu, the statement concluded.
