Hyderabad:
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy boldly announced today that the state is benchmarking its economic aspirations against Asian economic giants rather than neighboring states.
"We consider China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore as our primary competitors and role models. Our future plans include attracting substantial direct foreign investments," he declared, emphasizing that Telangana's development standards extend beyond Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
During a press conference at the Secretariat, Reddy unveiled the "Telangana Rising 2047" vision document, outlining a strategic roadmap to transform the state into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
The comprehensive plan, focusing on "Vision and Strategy," aims to increase Telangana's contribution to India's overall development to an ambitious 10 percent.
This visionary initiative will be officially launched at the Global Summit scheduled for December 8 and 9 at Future City, with global leaders expected to attend.
Developed with assistance from organizations like NITI Aayog and ISB, the document takes a people-centric approach and divides the state into three complementary economic zones.
The first zone, Core Urban Region Economy (CURE), will be developed as a service sector hub with plans to relocate polluting industries outside this core area. Projects like the Musi Rejuvenation and Metro Rail expansion are central to transforming Greater Hyderabad into a pollution-free metropolis.
The second zone, Peri Urban Region Economy (PURE), situated between the Outer Ring Road and the proposed 360 km Regional Ring Road, will host major economic initiatives. Development plans include establishing Bharat Future City, constructing a new Greenfield Highway, implementing a Bullet Train network, and enhancing connectivity to Machilipatnam Port.
The third zone, Rural Agriculture Regional Economy (RARE), focuses on agricultural development, positioning farmers as key partners in the state's economic growth.
The Chief Minister highlighted the region's suitability for seed production, with RARE promoting knowledge development through international educational partnerships and ensuring access to quality education and technology.
To support these ambitious growth targets, the vision includes significant infrastructure development.
Reddy emphasized the necessity for additional airports, confirming plans for new facilities in Warangal, Adilabad, Kothagudem, and Ramagundam. This comprehensive network of transportation infrastructure is expected to play a crucial role in attracting foreign investments.
The government has already established a target to achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2034, with the "Telangana Rising 2047" vision structured to ultimately reach the $3 trillion goal by India's independence centenary.
A dedicated war room, headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, has been established at Praja Bhavan to coordinate the upcoming Global Summit.
The state government plans to invite both national and international representatives to participate in this significant event.
Chief Minister Reddy will personally extend invitations to key national figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi, and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge.
The invitee list encompasses a diverse range of dignitaries, including Union Ministers, Chief Ministers from all states, prominent industrialists, economists, sports personalities, media representatives, and diplomats, with invitations extended to 4,500 representatives across various sectors.
