Chandigarh:
Police have apprehended the live-in partner of a woman on charges of killing her five-year-old daughter in a rage-induced incident in Haryana's Rewari district, authorities confirmed on Sunday.
The suspect identified as Roshan, originally from Bihar, has been charged with murder, according to a Rewari police officer who spoke via telephone.
The officer revealed that Roshan had been sharing a rented accommodation with the married woman and her daughter. On Wednesday, the couple had an argument while they were out. Following the dispute, the woman proceeded to the railway station, while Roshan returned to their residence.
The woman's five-year-old daughter was at home during this time. The child began crying for her mother and repeatedly asked Roshan to take her to her mother. When he ignored her pleas, the girl continued crying. In a fit of anger, the man violently pushed the child to the floor, causing fatal injuries, the officer explained.
Immediately after the incident, the accused fled the scene, the officer added.
Local residents alerted the police, who formed special teams that successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect.
