Man Strangles Live-In Partner, Stuffs Body In Bag. Then Takes Selfie With It

The man violently attacked his partner by smashing her head against a wall before strangling her.
Kanpur:
A relationship that began on Instagram culminated in betrayal and a horrific murder. A Kanpur resident from Uttar Pradesh killed his live-in partner after suspecting her of having a relationship with another man.
Approximately two months ago, Aakanksha and Suraj Kumar Uttam engaged in a severe argument after he discovered she was communicating with another man. The dispute escalated violently when he smashed her head against a wall before strangling her. He subsequently contacted his friend Ashish Kumar to assist in concealing the crime. They placed Akanksha's body in a bag and traveled by motorcycle to Banda, located 100 km away, to dispose of the remains.
Their plan was to discard the bag into the Yamuna River. However, before doing so, Suraj Uttam paused to take a selfie with the bag containing her body.
His cover-up attempt began to collapse after the woman's mother filed a missing person report with the police on August 8. She accused Suraj Uttam of abducting her 20-year-old daughter. Authorities detained Suraj Uttam and his accomplice on Thursday, and during interrogation, they admitted to the crime.
Suraj Kumar Uttam, who works as an electrician, confessed that he killed Akanksha on July 21 following an argument. Aakanksha had been employed at a restaurant.
Police officials stated that the accused initially attempted to mislead investigators, but when confronted with evidence of his phone communications with the victim, he confessed.
He revealed that their relationship began through conversations on Instagram which developed into love. He started meeting her at the restaurant where she worked alongside her elder sister.
According to the investigation, the woman previously lived with her sister in Kanpur's Barra neighborhood before relocating to live with Uttam in a rented accommodation in Hanumant Vihar.
The perpetrator also informed police about the selfie he had taken, which authorities have since recovered from his mobile phone.
Both accused individuals have been arrested and incarcerated.
