Rajasthan's Electoral Purge: 24 Lakh Voters Face Removal Under Special Intensive Revision Process

Over 24 lakh voters in Rajasthan may be removed from electoral rolls as the Special Intensive Revision exercise compares current voter data with 2002 records. Unmapped voters must provide documentation by December to maintain their registration, with Jaipur reporting the highest number of potentially affected individuals. The final electoral roll will be published in February 2026 after the claims process concludes.

24 Lakh Voters In Rajasthan Yet To Clear SIR Scrutiny, May Be Deleted

Approximately 24 lakh individuals face potential removal from Rajasthan's electoral rolls as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process continues through December 4, according to official sources.

The Election Commission-directed initiative, which commenced on November 4, involves comparing current voter information with records established during the previous SIR exercise conducted in 2002.

Voters whose information cannot be reconciled with the 2002 SIR list risk elimination from present electoral registers.

Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan explained that following digitization efforts, officials are systematically matching each voter's information against the 2002 SIR records, particularly verifying whether parents' names appear in these earlier documents.

Individuals whose records cannot be successfully mapped to previous rolls will receive notices after the December 9 draft roll publication. These voters must then submit specified documentation proving eligibility, with failure resulting in removal from voter lists.

The post-Bihar election SIR has been implemented across 12 states and Union Territories including Rajasthan starting November 4. The initial draft electoral roll will be released on December 4, followed by a one-month period for claims and objections from voters and political parties' booth-level representatives. The final electoral roll will be published on February 7, 2026, after resolving all pending cases.

Election Commission statistics indicate Rajasthan has approximately 5.46 crore registered voters. Enumeration forms have been distributed to all households during the survey that began November 4. Booth Level Officers have already collected roughly 4.59 crore forms, which have been digitized and uploaded to the ECINet portal.

According to SIR data through November 28, information for 4,34,77,808 voters out of 4,59,19,481 enumeration forms has been successfully matched with the 2002 electoral roll. These individuals require no additional documentation and will automatically be included in the final electoral register.

However, 24,41,673 voters remain unmapped to the 2002 SIR list, a figure potentially increasing as digitization continues through December 4.

District-level analysis reveals Jaipur has the highest number of unmapped voters at 1,95,489, followed by Jodhpur (1,47,016), Bhilwara (1,29,574), Sikar (1,15,713), Bikaner (1,11,744), and Udaipur (1,03,286).

The mapping procedure involves 52,222 Booth Level Officers conducting door-to-door visits across Rajasthan to distribute enumeration forms. Each voter must provide details including name, address, ward, and EPIC (voter ID) number. After collection, BLOs upload these forms digitally via mobile application, where information is automatically compared against the 2002 SIR records.

For voters who have relocated to Rajasthan from other states, BLOs download relevant voter lists from those states covering the 2002-2005 SIR period and perform similar verification based on provided information. Successfully mapped voters are exempted from submitting the 13 prescribed documents, while those failing this verification must prove their eligibility during the claims period to avoid deletion from electoral rolls.
